Music

Music is as important to our well-being as the air we breath. It impacts our emotions and our physical being in a way nothing else can. I sometimes think that the ability to convert of thoughts and feelings into music is the highest form of art.

Foghat Index Page
for everything you ever wanted to know about the band.

It was hard to imagine Foghat without Dave, no more silver lemaé tenny's. Mister organic sweat! Time catches up with us all. But the real loss for me was Rod in 2005... We had many great times together... Rod and I were both ready to literally strangle my ex-husband, Michael, on many occasions...

None of us look much like this picture these days.
What hasn't changed is that Michael is still creating music and I'm still creating pictures.

I know Rod's up there somewhere polishing his slide work.

SciFi

The line between fiction and fact has always been blurry. Today's fiction is frequently tomorrow's fact.

I attribute my passion for science fiction and fantasy to my father. His library of paperbacks fills several rooms. And I discovered many of my favorite authors among those shelves. The cover art fueled dreams of the future. It does, however, make it hard to appreciate man's first steps on the moon when one is impatiently awaiting the discovery of hyper-light drive. After 50 years of science fiction accounst Ray Bradbury's Rocket Summer is finally a realit.

Periodic escape from the stress of everyday life is necessary to stay healthy. The comment has been made that "they", the authors just "make up any old thing." What they write, and dream, helps us explore ourselves and the possible consequences of our deeds in the safety of our favorite chair as we relax.

Starman

John Carpenter's Starman is a 1984 science fiction and fantasy film directed by John Carpenter which tells the story of an alien from another planet (Jeff Bridges) who has come to earth in response to the invitation found on the gold phonograph record in the Voyager space probes.

The movie was written by Bruce A. Evans, Raynold Gideon and Dean Riesner (uncredited). Bridges was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor. The film inspired a short-lived, (courtesy of Wikipedia)

The 1986 television series of the same name starred Robert Hays, Christopher Daniel Barnes, Erin Gray, Michael Cavanaugh, & Patrick Culliton.

Novels

Marion Zimmer Bradley's FANTASY Magazine-
A beautiful lady and writer of thought provoking human drama in the guise of fantasy. Not to mention the most throughly documented version of the Arthurian legends ever written in the Mists of Avalon series.

Fortunately she came to CCC several times and I was able to speak with her on more than one occasion. She will be missed by many but will live on through her works.

& More

Sapiens - answers to so many questions about why people are the way they are. My new favorite book.

1491, The Americas Before Columbus- a 2005 non-fiction book by American author and science writer Charles C. Mann about the pre-Columbian Americas. The book argues that a combination of recent findings in different fields of research suggests that human populations in the Western Hemisphere—that is, the indigenous peoples of the Americas—were more numerous, had arrived earlier, were more sophisticated culturally, and controlled and shaped the natural landscape to a greater extent than scholars had previously thought. Often truth is stranger than fiction.

Fingerprints of the Gods - a book first published in 1995 by Graham Hancock, in which he echoes 19th century writer Ignatius Donnelly, author of Atlantis: The Antediluvian World (1882), in contending that some previously enigmatic ancient but highly advanced civilization had existed in prehistory. (wikipedia). This one is amusing, at best.
