About Me

I was born in California, raised in Japan, lived and worked around the globe for many years, and finally settled in northwest Georgia in 2020 with my cat, Kathleen.

After high school, I enlisted in the U.S. Navy, trained as an electronics technician, and went to sea aboard a guided missile cruiser, the USS Topeka.  When my enlistment ended, I alternated between working for a seismic survey company as a ship's navigator and putting myself through college.  After graduation I began a 40+ year career in electronics and computers in Northern California.  In 1991, I combined my electronics background with my interest in pianos and piano technology and created Kessler Piano Service.   The Galleries below have examples of some of those instruments.

I attended the San Francisco School of Piano Tuning, became an associate member of the Piano Technicians Guild, and took classes in piano technology from Yamaha Corporation of America in Buena Park, California.

I has attended Yamaha’s renowned Little Red Schoolhouse, their Disklavier Piano Service Seminar, and their Performance Piano Service Seminar.  I have also attended technical seminars on modern electronic playback and recording systems with Music Systems Research (PianoDisc) and QRS (Pianomation).  Finally, I recently attended the Renner Academy, a weeklong, grand piano action, master course.

Today I focus on maintaining and expanding my piano service business through effective communications with my clients and continued refinement of my technical skills.
